Here, Acumen Financial introduces our latest recruit, Jo Wilden. A financial planning executive with more than 20 years’ experience in the field, we are delighted to welcome Jo to the Acumen family.

Journey through the financial industry

Jo began her financial career 20 years ago when she joined local Southport firm, ADA Independent Financial Advisers. Working with the company for nine years, Jo then decided to take an administrative opportunity at Griffiths & Armour Insurance Brokers, based in Liverpool. This firm was later acquired by Charles Stanley.

Throughout her time at the brokers, Jo worked towards a Diploma in Financial Planning and, after achieving her qualification, worked as a paraplanner for 11 years. Following this experience, Jo undertook jobs at both David Roberts and Partners and Plus Group.

Why Acumen?

In late 2016, Jo was approached by Acumen Financial’s Managing Director, Angela Maher. Her first impressions were very positive: “I was incredibly impressed with how diligently clients were looked after and with the professionalism and friendliness of the team, that I leapt at the chance to join the firm,” she said.

Jo joined Acumen as a Financial Planning Executive in November 2016 and now works closely with Angela, and Acumen’s other Director Jon Landy, in order to recommend the most suitable products to clients. Jo tells us that she admires the nature of the company, the friendliness of the team and enjoys providing assistance with the key service areas of pensions and investments.

A little about Jo

Jo lives in Southport with her husband Peter and daughter Kate. When she isn’t working, Jo enjoys days out with her family, visiting stately homes, castles and national attractions, making the most of her National Trust membership. Aside from exploration, Jo also enjoys visits to the cinema and meals out. She also takes her role as ‘Mum’s Taxi’, ferrying Kate to Brownies and other activities, very seriously!
