Meet John
After deferring university for a year, I joined the financial services industry in the Lake District back in the early 1990s and I never looked back. Having known Angela and Jon for many years before joining Acumen, a firm I have always held in the highest regard, making the decision to join the team was incredibly easy.
For many years, I worked with specialist pension providers across technical, sales, and management roles, alongside my time as a financial adviser. Today, I bring that clear, jargon-free expertise to clients looking to grow or manage substantial wealth.
I firmly believe that financial planning is a long-term relationship built entirely on a foundation of trust, especially since life rarely moves in a straight line. For me, the true reward is getting to know you, understanding what drives you and discovering what is most important for your future. Without that deeper human connection, creating a meaningful financial plan is impossible. My goal is to look beyond just standard advice and services, taking the opportunity to help steer, shape, and build a secure path forward so you can feel genuinely optimistic and hopeful for what’s to come.
Outside of work, I live in Penwortham and have been happily married to my wife, Tracy, since 2001. Our twin boys are now grown up, which means my long-standing tenure as a weekend sports taxi driver has officially come to an end! These days, Tracy and I enjoy long weekend walks, usually navigating our way to a local pub with our dog, Scout. After a couple of years of merely thinking about playing golf again, I have finally taken the plunge and picked up the joining form for my local club… so watch this space!
