Acumen’s Summer Investment Event

We will be delighted if you can join us at Acumen’s Summer Investment Event on Wednesday 15 June 2016! Informal, informative and held in our brand new offices we are bringing together some top industry speakers. We aim to de-mystify Brexit, shine a light on investments, provide insight into why people invest in the way they do and look at ways business owners can extract hard-earned profits. An “Any Questions” style panel discussion will round off the event and we’ll serve supper with music from singer/guitarist Brendan O’Rourke.

Alex Wheelan is responsible for business development with financial planners and Wealth Managers. Alex has more than 17 years of Intermediary sales experience and currently provides educational support in Investment Management, Business consultancy and behavioural finance.

Jake Wellesley-Smith
Business Development for Private Clients & Charities, Standard Life Wealth

Jake Wellesley Smith is responsible for Standard Life Wealth’s private client and charity business development in the North of England. Prior to this, Jake worked for Border Asset Management and held positions at Lombard Street Research, eChron AB and PWS Holdings.

Equity Research Analyst, Quilter Cheviot

Paul Merchant began his career at the Bank of England in 1972, before moving into fund management for Grieveson, Grant stockbrokers, Reliance Mutual, Swiss Life and New Zealand Insurance – where he was General Manager for UK and European Investment. He has been an Equity Research Analyst at Quilter Cheviot for 15 years.

Andy Lee
Marketing Director, Fortress Management Services Ltd

Andy Lee has over 30 years’ experience in the UK and offshore marketplace, having worked for HSBC, EFG and Zurich, and has been a Director of Fortress for the past 10 years. Fortress specialise in providing trust services, tax planning, company administration and legal services both in the UK and internationally.

Head of Investment Strategy, Investec Wealth & Investment

John Wyn-Evans is responsible for developing and marketing the firm’s investment strategy to IW&I’s network of Investment Managers and the IFA community. John’s extensive career has seen him enjoy spells with Smith New Court, Lehman Brothers, Nomura and Troy Asset Management.

Ben Gutteridge
Investment Director & Head of Fund Research, Brewin Dolphin

Ben is responsible for collective recommendations at Brewin Dolphin, focussing on the US, Emerging Markets & Global Equity, Fixed Income and Alternative and Structured Investments. He is on the Brewin Dolphin Asset Allocation Committee and hosts the Brewin Dolphin weekly Investment Podcast.
